The Tecno Y6 mobile phone comes with 1.0 GHZ Dual-core Processor, 8GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, 5MP camera quality and 0.2MP front camera designed for video calls. Pre-loaded the latest Google Android OS version 4.4 KitKat. The mobile phone has a Dual sim functionality with full 3G support, which is very easy for internet connectivity. It is now available as from August 2015.
• DESIGN AND DISPLAY
The Tecno Y6 is not much different in design from what you would expect of a budget smartphone from its maker. It features a plastic construction and is rather thick, by today's standards, at 10.6 millimetres.
It sports a large 5-inch diagonal display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels – the new standard for budget devices in its price range. The pixel density of 196 pixels per inch makes for manageable screen clarity, while the in-plane switching (IPS) technology used for the display facilitates wide-angle viewing.
• CAMERA AND STORAGE
The Tecno Y6 features a camera combo that is not too bad for a budget smartphone. It packs a 5-megapixel sensor with LED flash, autofocus and HDR on the rear. The main camera can be used to record HD (720p) videos.
There is also a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter for taking selfies. You have ample inbuilt storage of 8 GB for storing your photos, videos and other files. Up to 32 GB additional storage space can be added on the Tecno Y6 using a microSD card.
• POWER AND PERFORMANCE
Powered by a dual-core MediaTek processor, the Tecno Y6 should offer a level of performance and responsiveness decent for a budget phone. The chip runs at speeds of up to 1 GHz and is assisted by RAM of 1GB capacity. A Mali 400 GPU handles graphics. The phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, which is a bit interesting for the price. A large 2350mAh Li-Ion battery supplies the juice needed to get the Tecno Y6 running.
