Safety precautions or measures in using a mobile device!

A mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to radio waves recommended by international guidelines! These guidelines were developed by the independent scientific organisation (ICNIRP) and includes safety margins desined to assure the protection of all persons, regardless of age and health. A mobile phone, just as you all know, has its uses in making calls, browsing the internet, sending and receiving messages/e-mails via packet data or GSM/UMTS bands, listening to music, watching both internal and online videos, streaming of live matches, taking photos, recording, etc.
A mobile phone has its safety measures and literally, it can be termed; Safety measures or precautions in using a mobile phone! Without wasting much of your time, below are the safety precautions or measures in using a mobile device!

1. SWITCH OFF YOUR MOBILE PHONE IN RESTRICTED AREAS: Always switch off your mobile phone off where mobile phone uses is not allowed, or when it may cause interference or danger, for e.g, in aircraft, banks, hospitals or near a medical equipment, fuel, chemicals or nuclear plants. With the listed areas above, you are compelled to obey all instructions in restricted areas.
At petrol stations, you could notice that petrol evaporates quickly, and as such, there is an affinity between the petrol liquid and its vapour, and your mobile device's waves has momentum and charge that can ignite a petrol vapour, and cause fire outbreak, especially when your mobile phone is ringing, or about to ring! That is the reason why it is not advisable to use your mobile phone near an ignited petrol engine!
2. INTERFERENCE: The word interference means; interfering; disturbance of radio signals! The operation of radio transmitting equipment, including mobile phones may interfere with function of an adequately protected medical devices. So, if you operates a radio transmitting equipment, you ought to consult a physician or the manufacturer of the medical devices so as to determine whether they are adequately shielded from external RF energy. You have to switch off your mobile device where regulations posted instructs you to do so, as in banks, hospitals, etc.

All wireless devices may be susceptible to interference, which could affect performance, and your mobile phone is liable to cause an interference!

Although, manufacturers of medical devices recommend a minimum separation of 15.3 centimetres (6 inches), between a wireless device and an implanted medical device such as Pacemaker or implanted Cardioverter Defilbrillator to avoid potential interference with the medical device. So, mobile phone users are obliged to turn their wireless device off where there is any reason to suspect that interference is taking place, or hold their mobile phones to the ear when in an opposite direction with a medical device. It is also not advisable to keep your mobile phones in your breast pocket, trouser or skirt pockets, as your mobile phone do emit a packet of radiation energy or energy quanta, especially when signals falls on it, and most people do not know this.
A mobile phone meets RF exposure guidelines in the normal use position at the ear or at least 1.5 centimeters (5-8 inches) away from the body. Therefore, any carry case, belt clip or holder for body-worn operations should not contain metal, and you should position the device above the stated distance from your body!

Radio signals may affect improperly installed or inadequately shielded electronic fuel injection, electronic anti-lock braking, electronic speed control, and even airbag systems!

3. AVOID USING A MOBILE PHONE IN A POTENTIALLY EXPLOSIVE ENVIRONMENTS: Switch off your mobile phone in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere. Obey all posted instructions, because sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire, resulting in bodily injury or even death. Switch off your mobile phones at refuelling points, such as near gas pumps at filling stations. Observe restriction in fuel depots, storage, distribution areas, chemical or nuclear plants and where blasting operations are in progress. In areas with potentially explosive atmosphere, you are advised to switch off your mobile phone, especially near an ignited petrol engine, below boat decks, chemical storage or transfer facilities and where there is air containing chemicals or particles that may enhance explosion.

This is the major reason why pipeline vandals do not make use of their mobile phones when in operation. Even those that repair leakages in underground petrol tanks do not use their mobile phones when in operation as well, because the radio waves from a mobile phone can ignite a petrol vapour and cause fire outbreak!

There are more ways in which you can also take care of your mobile phone, but the ones I stated above are the primary safety measures in using a mobile phone! Other safety measures in using a mobile device include:

* Keep your mobile phone away from magnets or magnetic field.
* Do not drop, knock or shake your mobile phone, because rough handling your device can break internal circuit boards and mechanics.
* Unauthorized modifications may damage your device and violate regulations governing radio devices.
* Do not attempt to open your mobile device. If your mobile phone has developed fault, kindly refer it to a qualified service personel like Mc Kings Systems Limited.
* Keep your mobile phone dry, because precipitation, humidity and all types of liquids or moisture contain minerals that can corrode electronic circuits. But if your device gets wet, remove the battery, expose it to sunlight and allow to dry.
* Do not store your mobile phones in high temperatures. High temperatures can shorten the life of your mobile phone, damage the battery and warp or melt the plastic casing, if your mobile phone has a plastic case.
* Do not store your mobile phone in cold temperatures, because when the device warms to its normal temperature, moisture can form inside your device and damage electronic circuits.
* Do not store your mobile phone in dusty or dirty areas, because moving parts and electronic components can be damaged.
* Do not paint your device, because an oil or emulsion paint can clog the moving parts and prevent proper operation.
* Only use soft, clean, dry cloth to clean the surface of your mobile phone.
* Switch off your mobile phone and remove your battery from time to time for optimum performance of your mobile phone.
* To keep important data safe, store it in at least two separate places, such as in your phone's memory card or your computer, or possibly write down important informations.
* Switch off your bluetooth or WLAN when not in use, as it may incur or cause interference to a radio wave.
* Always switch off your mobile phone and disconnect your charger before removing your battery.
* When you want to unplug your charger or an accessory, hold and pull the plug, but not the cord.
* When your charger is not in use, unplug it from the electrical plug and its device.
* Do not leave a fully charged battery connected to a charger, because over-charging may shorten your battery's lifetime.

Always keep your battery between 15* and 25*, as extreme temperatures will reduce the capacity and lifetime of your battery, because a mobile phone with a hot or cold battery may not work temporarily!

* Never you dispose off batteries in a fire, as they may explode.
* Make sure you switch off your mobile phone and disconnect your charger before removing your battery.
* Listen to your headset at a moderate level, and do not hold your mobile phone near your ear when the loudspeaker is in use.
* Obey all traffic laws. Always keep your hands free to operate a vehicle, as it is not advisable to operate a mobile phone while driving.
* Do not dismantle, cut, open, crush, bend, puncture or shred batteries.
* If a battery leaks, do not let battery liquid to touch your skins or eyes. But if it happens, flush the affected areas with water and seek medical attention.
* Accidental short-circuit can happen when a metallic object touches the metal strip on the battery. Short-circuiting may damage the battery or the connecting terminals.

Finally, your mobile phone is not water resistant, so keep it dry and away from moisture.

If your mobile device such as Ipad, Nokia phone, Samsung mobile, LG mobile, Blackberry phone, etc has developed a fault beyond understanding, please kindly refer it to where software support solution will be used to discover the cause and solution of your mobile phone! If your firmware version needs to be upgraded, it can also be upgraded too, so that you can enjoy what your mobile got to offer!
And you may be thinking if such an office exist in eastern Nigeria! Yes, of course it exists, and the office that has a panacea to your mobile phone problems is Mc Kings Systems Limited.
