Google and partners have come together to create the "Get Nigerian Businesses Online" initiative. Their goal is to help as many small and medium businesses as possible in Nigeria establish a web presence. By getting online, Nigerian businesses can start to benefit from the opportunities that the Internet provides.
Google's mission is to organise the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Google's strategy in Africa is to get more users online by developing an accessible, relevant and sustainable Internet ecosystem. Getting more Nigerian businesses online is one big step that will help to grow that ecosystem. Their search technologies connect millions of people around the world with information everyday. And now, they are very committed to help connect people with as much local content from Nigeria as possible.
They are providing an easy and free end-to-end website solution that will enable small and medium businesses in Nigeria get online. They are giving away for free; an easy-to-build and maintain professional website, a sub-domain (e.g., mybusiness.gnbo.com.ng), webiste hosting for the life of the website, a local business listing on Google Maps and Places.
